Senior Tax Expert (gn) – Group Tax Reporting & GloBE

For our client, a leading global insurance group headquartered in Munich, we are looking for an experienced tax professional to join its central Group Tax function. Working with local tax teams, you will strengthen GloBE reporting across jurisdictions, advise on the implications of Pillar 2 for investment structures and contribute directly to income tax accounting in the Group’s quarterly and annual close.

Your responsibilities:

GloBE reporting and compliance. You will work with local tax teams to manage the Group’s Pillar 2 reporting process, from reviewing the underlying data to resolving technical questions and supporting tax audits. You will develop policies and controls that colleagues can apply consistently across jurisdictions.

Pillar 2 planning and investments. You will assess how the global minimum tax affects individual investment structures and the Group’s overall tax position. You will identify risks and opportunities and explain what they mean for specific investment and tax planning decisions.

Tax accounting and the Group close. You will take an active part in quarterly and annual closes, apply IAS 12 to income tax questions and help oversee internal and external tax reporting under IFRS and Solvency II. Your work will also inform the tax accounting policies used across the Group.

Country-by-Country Reporting and tax transparency. You will coordinate Country-by-Country Reporting to tax authorities and contribute to public tax disclosures. Together with local teams, you will investigate discrepancies and ensure that the figures are complete, accurate and reported on time

Reporting processes and systems. Working with colleagues in Accounting, Controlling, Risk and Actuarial, you will improve tax data quality and the tools used for reporting. You will identify where local entities can adopt common processes and where automation can reduce recurring manual work.

Your profile:

You hold a degree in business administration, finance, economics, law or a related discipline with a strong focus on tax. A professional tax adviser qualification is an advantage.

You bring at least five years of relevant tax experience in an international group, a tax advisory firm or both. Candidates joining directly from a Big Four or Next Ten firm are welcome if they have worked hands-on in both Pillar 2 and IFRS tax reporting.

You have practical GloBE / Pillar 2 experience and have made a substantive contribution to an implementation project. You have a strong grounding in domestic and international taxation. Experience with investment structures, insurance or asset management is an advantage.

Hands-on experience in IFRS tax accounting and reporting is essential. You can assess a complex tax accounting issue independently, explain your conclusion and apply it during the quarterly or annual close. In-depth knowledge of IAS 12 is an advantage, as is familiarity with Solvency II.

You are confident using Excel, work carefully with complex data and take an interest in reporting tools and automation. You communicate clearly with international colleagues in business-fluent English. German language skills are welcome.

Your benefits:

A visible senior expert role in the central tax function of a leading international insurance group. You will report directly to the Head of Tax Reporting and bring your judgement to both Pillar 2 decisions and the Group’s financial statements.

An experienced international team with a collaborative leadership style and open technical discussions. You will have your own area of responsibility and colleagues you can turn to when a complex tax question calls for a second perspective.

Opportunities to deepen your expertise and develop your career. The Group’s diverse investment portfolio gives you a wide range of tax issues to explore, while targeted learning programmes and regular collaboration with tax specialists and Heads of Tax around the world help you deepen your expertise.

Scope to shape how tax teams work across the Group. You will help develop the Pillar 2 policies, reporting standards and tools that local teams use in practice, and bring your own ideas to the automation of recurring processes.

An attractive overall package including hybrid working in Munich, a company pension, health insurance benefits, a discounted employee share purchase programme and family support..
